Terms of use

Using the site

electrician.wiki is free to use for personal, educational and professional purposes. You don’t need an account. Please don’t scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, and don’t present our pages as your own.

Safety notice and no warranty

The calculators, references and simulator are provided for information and as aids for qualified people. They are not a substitute for the electrical code in force where you work, for the instructions and listings of the equipment you use, for professional engineering judgement, or for your inspector’s decisions. Electrical work can cause fire, injury and death; it should be carried out by competent, authorised people.

We work hard to make results correct and we publish our methods and test cases, but the site is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, electrician.wiki and its editors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, the site.

Electrical codes and standards

We cite sections of the NEC, IEC 60364, BS 7671 and other standards by number and explain them in our own words. We do not reproduce their text. The standards are the property of their publishers (NFPA, IEC, IET/BSI and others); obtain the official documents from them.

Licences

  • Our text and diagrams are © electrician.wiki unless stated otherwise. Datasets and diagrams we mark as CC BY 4.0 may be reused with attribution.
  • The circuit simulator is CircuitJS1 by Paul Falstad and Iain Sharp under the GNU GPL; see its licence and source.
  • Product and standard names belong to their owners. References to other apps or websites are for identification only.
